ACHIEVEMENTS
In Teknomatrik, everyone irrespective of legal status whether state holder, founder, board member or ordinary employee formed a professional and skill workforce. That is the working philosophy being adopted to ensure growth and sustainability of our company.
Medium Speed Engine Room Simulator
Teknomatrik has been trusted to re-design several parts of the installation site prior to the installation of the simulator by Rheinmetall, ones of the leading naval training simulator manufacturers from Germany. Through a strategic cooperation, Teknomatrik was appointed as local partner by Rheinmetall to complete the installation, training and maintenance of the simulator. The simulator has been installed at the Engineering Faculty, KD PELANDOK, Royal Malaysian Navy base in Lumut.

Bridge-Shipdhandling Simulator (BSS)
This is another sizable simulator from Rheinmetall, a Category A bridge ship handling simulator to train the bridge crew in navigation and other related trainings deployed by the Royal Malaysian Training Centre KD PELANDOK. The simulator is facing critical obsolescence issue due to systems aging.
This simulator consist of an equipment room, main bridge, auxiliary bridge, cubicle rooms, instructor room and briefing room.

For a period contract of four years, Teknomatrik managed to maintain an average of 99.9% system operational level. The opportunity to maintain this simulator has given Teknomatrik team a great exposure especially in the programmable logic controllers.
The experience gained thus far able to push Teknomatrik to a greater height to deal with high technology systems.
Research and Development
Continuous Research and Development is the to Teknomatrik success. Backed by highly professional engineers and Beckhoff Automation Sdn Bhd, Teknomatrik not only managed to solve severe obsolescence issues faced by its client, but able to development solutions based on reversed engineering.
Tekno Automation & Control Systems as an example been developed using full strength of local engineers and subject matter experts. TACS was designed to simulate roll and pitch motion similar to the motion platform for the Scorpene Type Diving Control and Platform Simulator.
Tekno Automation & Control Systems (TACS)
Enter the Tekno Automation & Control Systems (TACS); the solution to your equipment control system needs. Proudly developed by Malaysians using German PC Control Technology from Beckhoff, TACS is here to custom design any control systems uniquely to your requirements. With Teknomatrik’s expertise in designing systems, TACS even provides the freedom in retrofitting or upgrading of existing systems.
TACS has the aspiration to prove the capability of Malaysia to be at par with other regions when it comes to high-end control system development. This goal was set when we had an epiphany on how dependent the country is on foreign technology solutions. Teknomatrik approached the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) through their Submarine Training Centre (STC) in Sepanggar, and proposed a Research & Development (R&D) on the Scorpene Type Diving Control and Platform Simulator (SIMDIV) to be carried out. By the end of the 18-month R&D activity, Teknomatrik has developed Tekno Motion Platform (TMP) a working Proof-of-Concept (PoC) unit to demonstrate our capability to produce an equivalent of the SIMDIV’s control system and beyond using TACS.
The TMP PoC uses a pair of Beckhoff DC servo motors; one for each axis, and the power delivered to each axis via an attached gearbox. Each drive assembly has a built-in holding brake as safety measure. Using Beckhoff’s One Cable Technology (OCT), the power line and feedback for the drive system are fit into a single cable instead of two on the SIMDIV. Using steering wheels, the motion platform is able to rotate up to 45˚ in both directions for each axis. The two axes could rotate simultaneously giving the impression of being underwater and on the surface. There is also a 1-button axes zeroing function as well.
SIMDIV has 4 different types of PLCs to control the motion platform; each with separate functions. Teknomatrik has successfully made it possible to run with only 1 type using TACS. On top of that, TACS runs on a PC-based control system with Windows OS to further enhance the processing power and data transmission efficiency with other devices. The Instructor Console of SIMDIV also runs on Windows hence intercommunication within the TACS would be seamless. EtherCAT; the communication protocol for TACS has made it possible to run the system in real-time. With this, every action and reaction within the system would occur almost immediately. Real-time capability is even more crucial when it comes to safety and is the reason why EtherCAT was used. Safety monitoring of the TACS is done using TwinSAFE. It monitors every safety-related.
Bridge-Shiphandling Simulator
Another R&D product, Tekno Bridge Shiphandling Simulator is being rapidly developed by a team of systems engineers. Running on an open standard, product and technology from Microsoft are chosen based on its scalability and user friendliness.
This development has two main objective, the first one is to replace the old application from Rheinmetall as part of obsolescence management while the second objective is to reduce the country dependency on foreign product and expertise thus increase the country self-reliance.
- System Manager
- Instructor Module
- Conning Module
- RADAR Module
- Electronic Navigation Chart Display Information System
- Communication Module
